I didn't meet Jillian until the day of this surprise engagement session but she's been in my prayers since long before that.
Many years ago when she was just a toddler, I heard her Mom telling a coworker what Jillian had done the night before. She had gotten into a bottle of her nail polish and dumped it everywhere. I remember feeling bad for her Mom but also laughing a little bit on the inside. It reminded me of a similar story from when I was a toddler. Apparently my sister and I found a cup of cold coffee on an end table, dumped it into the middle of the carpet, added a bottle of baby powder and made soup in the middle of the floor. I immediately knew I liked her even though I didn't know her.
Years later I heard Jillian was in the hospital with a life threatening illness. All of those who know and love her and her family were constantly praying, myself included. I was so worried for her that I even asked my friends to pray for her too. I don't do that often. The only other time I may have asked for prayer like that was when my Dad was hospitalized. Jillian healed and finished her degree at JMU. She's healthy strong and creating a beautiful life.
When her Mom reached out to me and asked if I could photograph Jillian being proposed to under the guise of winning a portrait session, I couldn't say yes fast enough! I finally got to meet this beautiful young lady in person and help document this exciting day in her life.
Congratulations Jillian and David!
